My purview is maginative literature with a focus on language and form. Sometimes my work looks closer to genre fiction, sometimes closer to what they call literary or experimental fiction; I’d like to say I don’t distinguish until it comes time to publish, but the truth is sometimes I do, I can’t help it. M. John Harrison says, “The effect of ‘literary fiction’ on literature has been as destructive as the effect of the sf & fantasy genres on the fiction of the imagination,” and I believe him.
I’m the author of The Fixed Stars: Thirty-Seven Emblems for the Perilous Season (FC2, 2010) and some short stories. I also co-edit Birkensnake, a literary zine, with my friend Joanna Ruocco.

Designed and made by me, which is why it’s sort of primitive and dysfunctional. Colo(u)rs and circles thanks to Heinz Edelmann and The Beatles. Images: detail of Fixed Stars cover by Lou Robinson; photos of myself and the Birkensnake moth by Michelle Carriger; Nile photo by NASA. The font of the pale yellow site title on the left is Day Roman, by François Guyot, digitized by Apostrophiclab.
